Marmara Ereğli, Town of Historical Assets, Summer and Archeology

Marmara Ereğli is a settlement with summer houses located on the Istanbul border in Thrace Region which is visited by residents of Istanbul during short vacations. Gradually increasing pollution in the Marmara Sea caused a decrease in the tourism potential of the town. However, completion of Perinthos Ancient City excavations in Marmara Ereğli will make it possible to compensate the loss suffered in marine tourism by the added value to be brought in by historical tourism.

As the town is located on the Istanbul-Çanakkale highway, development of the service sector can make Marmara Ereğli a tourism stop that can be visited before entering in Istanbul.
